Introduction
Plogging is the way of collecting litter while jogging. Basically, plastics and bottles which has degraded our environment. You can understand better with the given image.
History
It began in 2016 in Sweden with the term plogging which is the combination of the Swedish words “plocka upp” ( pickup ) and “jogga”( jogging ).
Why Plogging?
It aims to reduce the litter from our environment and strengthen our physical fitness, teamwork and protect our nature from litter.
How to Start Plogging?
A. Preparation:
1. Dressing: Wear comfortable clothes and shoes according to climate and gear for running.
2. Wearing Suitable gloves: Wear gloves before picking litter which may be hazardous.
3. Carry bag for collecting litter: The bag needs to be easy to carry, capable of containing litter that might have sharp edges, be dirty or moist, etc.
B. Create engagement
1. Plogging groups
Create the groups on a social platform and invite the interested people and tell them what the plogging is? and take ideas from them.
2. Advertise
Join the other groups running in your society and tell them about it and be a good motivator and lead the team until the group gains its own momentum. Even organize meetings and encourage them to be a member.
3. Move alone
If you are alone don’t give up and go as an individual plogger because later you will find the people interested joining you.
C. Collect Safely
Don’t worry about how much to collect or how I can do it alone because one step can make a huge difference. So don’t hesitate to make the first step. Collect how much you like but don’t leave the litter. Along with it be safe from broken glasses and leaves those.
D. Record a data
Keep a record of the waste you have collected and post the photos on your social media in order to encourage others to be a part of it.
E. Enjoy
Don’t hesitate about what you are doing and just enjoy, love and motivate yourself and others.
